About Emamory
Emamory is a meaningful word that took me quite some time to find - I didn't want to choose just any name for my business. It had to be something special to me.
I'm Brazilian, and when I decided to start this business, I wanted to connect my country of origin with the place I now call home: New Zealand.
New Zealand is deeply influenced by Maori culture, which inspired me to explore indigenous roots.
I began researching Brazilian indigenous tribes and their languages, and I discovered the Galibi, who live mainly in Brazil and Bolivia. I also looked into other tribes, such as the Tupi-Guarani. However, I needed a name that was easy to pronounce in both Portuguese and English, and that carried a special meaning.
That's when I found Emamory, which means "aurora" in the Galibi language. And that felt truly meaningful! Here in New Zealand, we're lucky to witness the stunning Aurora Australis - from places like Stewart Island or Lake Tekapo, for example. It was the perfect fit: beautiful and symbolic.
I have a strong connection with nature. When I'm not crafting, I love spending time outdoors, observing the weather, birds, and plants. I also tend a small garden where I grow flowers and vegetables. This connection makes it easy and joyful to create pieces that reflect elements of nature. My favourite creations are always inspired by the natural world.
I hope you enjoy what I've created and that you, too, find inspiration in nature and in the way my art touches your life.
Emamory - your place for handmade, custom, and unique gifts.
With love, Thayane
